Renewing my Estonian e-Residency
This week I visited the Estonian embassy in London to renew my Estonian e-Residency.
Many people are unaware that Estonia is one of the most digitally advanced countries in the world!
The programme began back in 2014, and I joined within a few months.
Every time I renew, I’m reminded how forward-thinking Estonia is. It shows what’s possible when a country truly embraces digital innovation and builds systems that actually work for people.
What is e-Residency?
I’ve always loved the idea of making life simpler, especially when it comes to running anything business-related. Estonia’s e-Residency scheme appealed to me straight away.
It’s a brilliant example of a country thinking digitally first, letting people around the world access their business infrastructure without ever setting foot there.
You get a secure digital ID, access to their online services, and the ability to run an EU-based company entirely remotely. It’s smart, modern, and very… well, Estonian.
Why become an e-Resident?
I became an e-resident mainly because I liked the flexibility it gives me. Even though I’m now in my “future life,” I still create, advise and occasionally dabble in business ideas.
I’m not looking to move abroad or build an empire. I just appreciate tools that reduce friction.
e-Residency is exactly that: a clean, efficient option in a world that normally demands paperwork and complications.🤓
